Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of care do you offer?
Thrive Whole MD offers personalized, integrative, systems-based medical care focused on whole-person health. We work with patients across a wide range of needs from optimizing long-term health to navigating complex or chronic conditions. Our care is collaborative, unhurried, and designed to help you feel more like yourself on your best days, more often.
Do you take insurance?
We do not bill insurance directly. Thrive Whole MD is a cash-pay practice, and payment is due at the time of service. However, we provide superbills that you can submit to your insurance for out-of-network reimbursement. We are happy to assist you with using these superbills and understanding the process for your specific plan.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards, debit cards, HSA, and FSA.
Do you offer sliding scale or financial assistance?
Yes. We are committed to making high-quality care more accessible. A limited number of sliding scale appointments are available based on financial need. Please email for information and availability.
What is the process for new patients?
Every new patient starts with a 60-minute new patient intake. You can choose to begin:
-
With a structured Thrive Pathway Foundations Intake, focused on a specific area of concern (like hormones, mental health, or longevity), followed by a 45-minute session to review results and build a personalized care plan.
-
Or with a standalone Thrive Insight Consult, ideal for general wellness, lab reviews, second opinions, or focused support without committing to a full care plan.
Follow-ups are available as needed: flexible, strategic, and designed to evolve with you.
What is a Pathway? Am I locked into just one?
Pathways are structured tracks of care focused on specific issues (like longevity, women's health, or neurodivergent health). You're not limited to just one: your Thrive Foundations Intake covers entry into any Pathway. You can add others later. Starting a new Pathway usually involves a 45-minute follow-up to review details and set your plan, then ongoing care continues with flexible follow-ups as needed. Follow-ups address issues from any track we are collaborating on.

Yes. You are never locked into ongoing care. You’re welcome to schedule a single session for a second opinion, health review, or a focused concern. If you choose to continue care, we’ll build the right structure together.
Is this telehealth only? Do I need to be in Texas?
Yes, Thrive Whole MD currently operates as a telehealth-only practice. We can only see patients who are physically located in Texas at the time of their visit. We will update this policy as services are expanded to other states.
Can you prescribe medications or order labs and imaging?
Yes. We can prescribe medications, order lab work or imaging, and coordinate with your other healthcare providers.
Do you work with children or teens?
We work exclusively with adults (18 and older). Our services are designed for the specific medical, developmental, and decision-making needs of adults.
Are there any services you don't provide?
Yes. Thrive Whole MD is a specialty consultation practice, not a full-scope primary care clinic or urgent care provider. We do not provide:
-
Emergency or urgent care services
-
In-person procedures or physical exams (e.g., Pap smears, sutures, vaccines)
-
Routine screening exams that require in-person visits (e.g., DOT physicals, sports physicals)
-
Care that requires in-network providers for insurance coverage
-
Ongoing management of conditions that require high-frequency in-person monitoring (e.g., insulin titration, wound care)
If you're unsure whether your needs fit within the scope of care, you're always welcome to book a free 20-minute introductory call to discuss whether we’re a good match.
Do you make money from supplements or treatments you recommend?
No. We do not profit from the supplements or treatments we recommend. We've intentionally opted out of commission programs because we believe your care should be guided by your needs, not provider incentives.
We may suggest reputable products or offer access to professional-grade options for convenience, but we receive no financial benefit if you choose to purchase them. We will always assist you in finding the most cost-effective treatment options. Our goal is to help you use fewer, more effective tools, not to sell you anything.
What if I’m not sure which service is right for me?
You’re welcome to schedule a free 20-minute introductory call. We’ll talk about your goals and challenges and figure out what care track or service might be the best fit.
